In its efforts to bring services closer to the people, the Bangsamoro Government successfully conducted a joint medical mission and social service caravan yesterday, July 13, 2023. A total of 890 indigents from the 8 barangays of Pikit Cluster 1 in the BARMM Special Geographic Area benefited from this initiative, which took place at the covered court in Brgy. Nunguan.
The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through its Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) Program, provided free medicine assistance and referral services to indigent patients.
Several other services were also extended during the event. These included medical consultations and provision of medicines from the Office of the Chief Minister’s Tulong Alay para sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan (TABANG) Project, the Ministry of Health, Cotabato City Health Office, and the Rural Health Units of Pagalungan and Pikit. Free circumcision services were provided by the IPHO Maguindanao. Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) distributed seedlings, fish feeds, and livestock vitamins. The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism (MTIT) facilitated business name registration. Rice and family food packs were distributed by the BARMM Rapid Emergency Assistance for Disaster Incidence (READI) and the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG).
According to Haron D. Amer, the Provincial Social Welfare Officer (PSWO) of MSSD BARMM SGA, similar convergence activities have been conducted already in the clusters of Midsayap, Carmen, Kabacan, and Pigcawayan since May.
“We will have similar activities in the other clusters of BARMM SGA in the coming weeks,” Amer stated.
The said joint service delivery activity was spearheaded and organized SGA Development Authority (SGADA).
