JOLO, SULU โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) welcomed 85 returning Filipinos from Sabah (REFS) on August 16, 2023 at the Jolo Port.
The social workers here conducted thorough profiling for each returning individual, and subsequently provided them with essential relief items including 25 kilogram-rice and food packs.
The Ministry also collaborated with municipal local government units (MLGUs) of Siasi and Pangutaran to ensure smooth and efficient transportation arrangements for the returning Filipinos to their respective places of origin.
This intervention falls under the MSSD-BARMM’s Humanitarian Assistance and Transfer for Individuals in Distress (HATID) Program. Through the HATID Program, the Ministry continues its commitment to extending crucial support to families experiencing variety of crises, including natural disasters, human-induced emergencies, and the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.
The program specifically addresses the diverse needs of individuals and households affected by various circumstances, including laid-off workers, those in the informal sector, locally stranded individuals, returning Filipinos from Sabah and overseas, and those living below the poverty line or distressing situations.
