In line with the observation of the Civil Registration Month, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Child and Youth Welfare Program (CYWP) convened its partner stakeholders in both government and non-government development sectors and held a consultative meeting pertaining to free birth registration on February 17, 2022 at the conference room of the Bangsamoro Planning Development and Authority (BPDA) Office Building, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
Along with the MSSDโs key personnel from CYWP, Protective Services and Welfare Division, and Disaster Response Management Division, present also during the meeting were division heads from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) BARMM, Local Civil Registrars (LCRs) and Municipal Social Welfare Officers from the municipalities of South Upi and Upi, as well as specialists from Initiatives for Dialogue and Empowerment through Alternative Legal Services, (IDEALS) Inc., United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
The meeting is part of the preparatory activities of MSSDโs newest program on ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป to be launched this year in which development partners presented about their different civil registration projects which included their approaches, strategies, best practices, challenges, and provided their recommendations.
This ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป program of MSSD aims to target Indigenous People (IPs) and Samah-Badjaos which will be piloted in the six (6) municipalities in Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi since these vulnerable sectors lack access to the said service due to their geographically isolated areas.
Discussions and overall output of the said consultative meeting shall be used by MSSD as integral reference in crafting and developing the framework, design, and guidelines of its ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป program.
