MASIU, LANAO DEL SUR โ To commemorate this yearโs National Childrenโs Month and 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), MSSD conducted simultaneous activities at the municipal gymnasium here on 28 November 2022.
In observance of the National Childrenโs Month celebration with the theme โBangon Batang Bangsamoroโ, the Ministry conducted an outreach program for the 66 pre-school children from child development centers here. Each of them received school supplies, shirt, and freebies after a series of performances, courtesy of selected groups of participants.
The social workers in this municipality also conducted the payout for 16 case-managed orphans and 35 one-time orphan beneficiaries under the Kupkop Program of the Ministry.
In commencement of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW with the theme “UNiTED for a VAW-free Bangsamoro”, the Bangsamoro Islamic Women Auxiliary Brigade (BIWAB) coordinated with MSSD to conduct a lecture about this campaign. They also introduced the referral pathway to inform the participants how to help women and girls who are suffering from violence and abuse. This annual campaign is observed from 25 November to 12 December, in accordance with Proclamation No. 1172, s. 2006 of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which enjoins all departments agencies of national government, state universities and colleges, Local Government Units (LGUs), and all sectors of society to actively support and participate in the protection of human rights of women against violence and all other forms of discrimination.
Present during the event were focal persons of Gender and Development (GAD) and Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), BIWAB representatives, LGU staff, municipal social workers, child development workers, social work interns, and para-social workers.
