NORTHERN KABUNTALAN, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) led the monitoring and validation activities yesterday, July 25, 2023, to assess the impact of Super Typhoon Egay on the affected barangays here.
As per report of Northern Kabuntalanโs Municipal Social Welfare Office (MSWO), there are 445 households in Barangay Damatog and 120 households in Barangay Gayonga that urgently require assistance. To address their immediate needs, BARMM-READI (Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence) conducted an initial relief operation to aid the affected residents. Additionally, the Ministry will provide dignity kits to the most affected families.
Meanwhile, the MSSD-BARMM has scheduled a relief distribution in this municipality on August 1 to 2, 2023, to reach a total of 3,050 households that have been impacted by consecutive heavy rainfalls since June, leading to extensive flooding. Notably, the municipality was declared under a state of calamity on June 28, 2023, due to the severity of the flooding.
The monitoring and validation efforts were carried out in close coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDDRMO), barangay local government units (BLGUs), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
