SULTAN KUDARAT โ The families affected by the recent fire in Barangay Salimbao received additional relief goods from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) on March 6, 2023.
A total of 29 households with totally damaged houses received gas stoves, LPG tanks, and water kits, which were among their immediate needs. These families completely lost their homes in the fire incident that occurred on March 3.
Sheena Marie Compania, one of the affected residents, shared, “Mahirap po talaga kasi dahil wala kaming matuluyan. For almost 25 years na paninirahan namin dyan, nawala lang sa isang iglap.” (It’s really difficult because we have nowhere to go. We’ve been living there for almost 25 years, but everything was lost in an instant.)
Meanwhile, the 17 families with partially damaged houses received water kits. Prior to this, all affected households received non-food items such as hygiene kits, cooking kits, dignity kits, and trapal from the Ministry. An Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) assessment was also conducted to determine the most appropriate social intervention for the affected families.
