The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) expands its partnership with Mercury Drug to cover more branches in Cotabato City, Midsayap, Kabacan, Tacurong, Iligan City, and Zamboanga City
MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie handed over checks worth PhP 21 million pesos to Mercury Drug Branch Manager Daniel Ulep on 14 May 2022.
Through its initial partnership with the pharmacy, which started on May 2021, MSSD was able to serve 3,871 clients from Cotabato City, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, and the Special Geographic Area (SGA), with PhP 31,850,328.98 utilized funds, from May to December 2021.
Through its partnerships with hospitals and pharmacies, MSSD is able to provide immediate life-saving assistance since patients can immediately receive the medicines they need.
MSSD shall be able to boost its reach and serve numerous indigent patients in more areas through the expansion of its partnership with Mercury Drug, which is under the Ministry’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance in Response to Emergency Situations (Bangsamoro CARES) Program.
Patients requiring assistance for the purchase of medicines may go to MSSDโs office and submit a prescription, which must include the date of issuance of the prescription, complete name, PRC license number, and signature of the attending physician, along with a valid government issued ID of the patient or his/her representative.
The patient or his/her representative shall be interviewed and assessed by MSSDโs social worker. Once deemed qualified, a medicine request slip will be issued, which can then be brought to the pharmacy.
