All municipal social and welfare officers (MSWOs), social welfare assistants (SWAs) and representatives from nationally-funded programs of MSSD Maguindanao provincial office receive refresher training on gender-based violence (GBV) and Safe Spaces Act (SSA) Saturday, 19 February 2022, in Sarangani Province.
Led by PSWO Hadja Emma S. Ali, staff were re-oriented on various forms of GBV and its harmful effects as well as gender-based sexual harassments committed in public spaces, educational institutions, workplace and online space, and its relation to gender inequality, abuse of power and harmful norms.
As the lead agency that provides social protection services, MSSD ensures that its social workers and support staff are gender-sensitive and gender-responsive to the needs of women and all genders especially during crises.
The activity is organized in collaboration with the Women’s Welfare Program, one of the regular programs of MSSD, that thrusts include promotion of the welfare of women, prevention and eradication of all forms of exploitation against women, and advancement of womenโs skills, knowledge and attitude for self-actualization and empowerment.
