COTABATO CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in collaboration with its partner agencies, officially launched the BARMM Child-Protection-Gender-Based Violence (CP-GBV) Referral Pathways during the culmination program of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center in Cotabato City on December 12, 2023. The said program was a joint initiative of MSSD and the Bangsamoro Womenโs Commission (BWC).
The CP-GBV Referral Pathways aim to strengthen the protection of the rights and welfare of women and children from violence and oppression, amplify the reporting mechanism of VAW cases, empower the victim-survivors to report such cases to the authorities, and provide essential services to them.
MSSD also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), Ministry of Health (MOH), Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC), Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), and Police Regional Office โ Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) to signify their commitment to the implementation of CP-GBV Referral Pathways at the grassroots level.
Several international development partners also extended their support to the activity, including the United Kingdom Government, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Nonviolent Peace Force.
The program also highlighted the unveiling of the PNP Regional Guidance Note and BWC Policy Research Output.
In her message, Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, MSSD Minister, emphasized the significance of the referral pathway. She underscored the need for collective action to combat violence against women and children in BARMM.
โWe shall continue to work and operate with field workers to strengthen their skills in handling VAW cases and provide psychosocial interventions and other necessary support for the victim-survivors,โ Minister Jajurie stated.
By strengthening the referral pathway, MSSD aims to empower individuals to protect their rights and welfare against any form of violence. The Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to implementing and ensuring the safety and well-being of women and children in the Bangsamoro region.
