COTABATO CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) and the Cotabato City local government unit (LGU) formalized their collaboration in implementing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and other social protection initiatives through the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Specific Implementation Agreement (SIA) on June 16, 2023 at the Peopleโs Palace.
Under the MOA, MSSD and the Cotabato City LGU commit to collaborating in the provision of social protection programs, projects, and activities that address the needs of the indigent sectors, empower citizens, and promote inclusive growth. The signed MOA also serves as a guiding framework, clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of both parties involved. This includes pooling resources from both parties and engaging other entities as necessary to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives.
One of the key elements to be implemented through the MOA is the establishment of the City Advisory Council, which will oversee the overall implementation of 4Ps at the local government level. The council’s responsibilities, as outlined in the MOA and SIA, will play a crucial role in enhancing the delivery of social protection services to qualified beneficiaries in the city.
During the event, representatives from both MSSD and the Local Government of Cotabato City were present, underscoring their commitment to the partnership. Minister Raissa H. Jajurie, Deputy Minister Nur-ainee T. Lim, Director General Atty. Mohammad Muktadir Estrella, 4Ps RPMO and city links represented MSSD. On behalf of Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” D. Matabalao, Secretary to the Mayor, Mr. Guianodin Abdilah, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Ms. Shariffa Agar, represented the Local Government of Cotabato City.
Through this collaboration, MSSD and the city government aim to maximize their efforts in providing social protection, fostering community development, and uplifting the lives of the underprivileged. Their shared vision is to build a more prosperous and equitable society, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a better future.
