SULU โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) is presently conducting a series of Social Pension (SocPen) Program payouts in this province to reach 20,563 indigent elderly individuals.
As of October 14, 2023, a total of 1,535 senior citizens have received P3,000 each, covering the first semester of this year. Out of this, 963 are from the municipality of Lugus, while the remaining 572 are from Hadji Panglima Tahil. The payouts commenced on October 11, 2023, and will continue in the coming days to serve all the remaining unpaid beneficiaries.
Among the indigent elderly set to receive pensions are 2,113 from Jolo, 1,807 from Parang, 1,591 from Patikul, 1,529 from Indanan, 1,361 from Talipao, 1,220 from Old Pamanao, 1,184 from Pangutaran, 1,104 from Siasi, 1,100 from Maimbung, 899 from Luuk, 833 from Kalingalan Caluang, 785 from Pandami, 764 from Omar, 749 from Panglima Estino, 720 from Pata, 672 from Tongkil, and 597 from Tapul.
The Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPIC) Program, also known as SocPen, is a nationally funded program initiated in 2011, pursuant to Republic Act 9994 (Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010). The qualified beneficiaries of this program are entitled to a monthly subsidy of P500.
