PATIKUL, SULU — In support of their full transition back to their community life, former combatants in Barangay Taglibi here, along with their families, receive various social interventions from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) on 20 May 2022.

Thirty-five former combatants and their families are scheduled to receive livelihood assistance and educational support for their children, after assessment from MSSD social workers.

The livelihood assistance grant under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) seeks to reduce poverty and inequality by generating income among former combatants.

The educational assistance program or the Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABK) helps children of former combatants with their school expenses.

Initially, they received individual welfare assistance which included one sack of rice, grocery items, and sleeping kits. Similar support with dignity and maternity kits are also provided to 60 solo parents and pregnant women.

The local government of Patikul further provided rice assistance and monetary support of P5000 each.

MSSD will also refer their cases to other agencies for additional interventions and support.
