Earlier today, MSSD Maguindanao distributed 25 kilos of rice as an immediate response to each of the 3,859 families whose houses were submerged in the flood in the municipalities of Pagalungan and Datu Montawal, Maguindanao.
Among the flood-affected families, 3,000 were in Pagalungan and 859 were in Datu Montawal.
Meanwhile, on November 17, 500 residents in Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao who were also affected by the flood received similar rice assistance.
The flooding was brought about by an increase in the water level of a nearby river surrounding the three municipalities due to the heavy rains in the past days.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO) and the local government units of the said municipalities provided logistical support and human resources in the transport and distribution of the rice assistance.
