LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN – A total of 1, 619 flood-affected families in Lamitan City, Basilan received welfare goods from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through the initiative of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) on March 10-11, 2022.
Based on the report from Lamitan City CSWDO, among the families who received the assistance, 658 were from Brgy. Matibay, 361 were from Brgy. Limo-ok 286 were from Brgy. Malinis, 197 were from Brgy. Sengal, and 117 were from Brgy. Maligaya.
The said barangays were submerged in the flood due to their low-lying location as a result of the heavy rainfall brought by the low pressure area in Mindanao last week.
The City Local Government of Lamitan and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office also provided logistical support in the distribution of relief assistance.
