Following the fire incident on September 6, 2023, in Brgy. Dialongana, Lumba Bayabao, Lanao del Sur, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Lanao del Sur A Provincial Office, immediately provided emergency relief to the affected families yesterday, September 7.
Two families, totaling 15 individuals, were impacted by the fire and are currently residing with their relatives.
The fire incident occurred at around 8:00 PM last Wednesday which was attributed to faulty electrical wiring, resulting in the destruction of two houses. In response, MSSD field workers promptly conducted a rapid needs assessment and distributed relief supplies the following day.
Each family received essential items, including sleeping kits, dignity kits, hygiene kits, trapal, water containers, 25 kilograms of rice, canned goods, and other grocery items from MSSD.
Najah Lucman, the MSSD Disaster Response Focal Person for Lanao del Sur A, stated, “We will also conduct additional assessments to explore further social interventions, such as medical aid and emergency shelter assistance.”
In addition to MSSD’s support, the municipal local government unit also provided Php 20,000.00 to the affected families. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur extended further aid, including hygiene kits, kitchen utensils, and comfort packages.
