COTABATO CITY โ Food and non-food items were provided to the three (3) families affected by the recent fire incident here.
Through the Disaster Response and Management Division (DRMD), the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) distributed food packs which compose of one (1) sack of rice, assorted canned goods, and coffee, today, 16 February 2024.
The non-food items comprise of three (3) kits:
1) sleeping kit contains 1 mosquito net, 5 pcs. malong, 1 roll of twine straw, and 1 plastic mat;
2) cooking kit contains 1 plastic pail with a basin, 1 mineral water container, 4 pcs. plates, 1 cauldron pot, 1 ladle, 2 pcs. serving ladle, 4 pcs cups, and 1 frying pan; and
3) dignity and protection kit contains 3 packs of sanitary pads, 12 pcs. underwear for women and men, 2 whistles and 1 portable solar lamp.
The fire incident occurred around 12 noon of February 9 and 13, 2024. According to the survivors, nothing else was saved from the fire except one motorcycle (habal-habal). They are now living with their immediate relatives while rebuilding their houses.
Rasul Tino, social welfare officer of MSSD, has conducted thorough assessment and validated information, to evaluate the necessary support further needed by the affected families.
