MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR- To foster open communication and provide tools for coping with trauma, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) with the lead of Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) here, conducted a series of Mental Health and Psycho-social Support (MHPSS) activities to 120 armed conflict-affected women in Pagalungan town on 26 December 2023.
The MHPSS activities include focus group discussions (FGDs) and other psycho-social sessions which enable participants share their experiences and receive guidance from trained social workers. This intervention aimed to empower them to move forward from the emotional burdens caused by the conflict.
Aside from the activities, each participant also received a package containing coffee, sugar, spaghetti, fruit cocktail, biscuits, and an oil and soy sauce combo, to support their daily basic necessities.
The MSSD remains committed to provide continuous support for the participants’ well-being including case monitoring and safe spaces for women.
