SULU – To improve public health and hygiene, Barangays Kambing and Pitogo of Kalingalan Caluang town, this province, received construction materials for the building of two-unit latrines and handwashing facilities from MSSD through the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program.

The latrines and handwashing facilities will be put up in the evacuation centers of these barangays and will contribute to the community’s goal of achieving zero open defecation (ZOD), providing residents with improved waste disposal and sanitation facilities.

Materials delivered consist of high-quality lumber, fine sand, toilet bowl, plywood, kitchen sink, plastic drum, cement, shovel, and pipes.

In collaboration with the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), MSSD wanted to ensure the success of the project so the two communities can utilize the sanitation facilities the soonest time. Both parties will also closely monitor the construction to ensure completion within the designated timeframe and adherence to quality standards.
