BASILAN – Emergency Go Bags were distributed to 16 rescue providers as well as duffle bags to 119 vulnerable families who are at risk of disasters, on 24 January 2024, in the municipality of Lantawan of this province. This is to provide them with safety and preventive equipment that they can utilize in any future emergencies.

The emergency go bags consist of a solar lamp, radio, whistles, rope, collapsible water container, file bag, first aid kit, compress dressing, gauze roll bandage, adhesive bandage, adhesive cloth tape, antiseptic wipes, sterile gauze pads, itch-control ointment, thermometer, non-latex gloves, bandage shear, tweezers, thermal blanket, cotton balls, povidone-iodine, a smaller backpack, manual resuscitator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation kit, triangular bandage, bleeding control pouch, tactical medical tourniquet, chest seal, duct tape, permanent marker, rubber boots, and raincoats.

The distribution was still part of the Bangsamoro Foundation Anniversary celebration, highlighting the contribution of rescue providers in saving lives and families during calamities and disasters.

Social Welfare Officer II, Rasul Tino, emphasized that “providing response in times of disaster is not easy, so we must acknowledge their commitment.”

Through the Disaster and Risk Management Division, MSSD ensures that its programs and services address the needs of vulnerable sectors in the Bangsamoro region especially in times of conflicts, calamities and disasters.
