Wao, LANAO DEL SUR โ Forty-three internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected from the election-related violence in Brgy. Busaon, North Cotabato underwent a mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) session on 11 January 2024.
The Busaon IDPs evacuated and sought refuge in Wao town.
During the session, participants shared their experiences and received guidance from trained social workers provided by MSSD.
In addition to the support session, each participant was given 25 kilograms of rice, food packs containing canned goods and instant coffee, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits, including a malong, mosquito net, sleeping mat, and twine straw.
MSSD social workers will further conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to determine the long-term requirements of the IDPs concerning their well-being, security, and safety.
MSSD believes that the provision of life-saving assistance (e.g., food, shelter, water, sanitation, and medical aid) is more effective when combined with psychosocial programs like MHPSS.
