JOLO, SULU โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) extended assistance to 41 Sama-Badjaos from Manila upon their arrival here on 03 February 2023.
Aside from their ticket fare, each of them also received 25-kilogram rice and food pack under the Humanitarian Assistance and Transfer for Individuals in Distress (HATID) Program of the Ministry. The Municipal Social Welfare Office (MSWO), in coordination with Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, will facilitate the return of these individuals to their respective residence.
MSSD’s HATID program provides emergency assistance to individuals in distress to (1) ensure their safety and security (especially women, children, persons with disability and other persons with specific needs) by facilitating movement away from the imminent threat of physical, emotional and psychological threat; (2) facilitate the emergency and essential transfer of vulnerable individuals to their places of origin, reunification with the family members, relatives and significant others (support system) and referrals with other social welfare assistance; and (3) contribute to the over-all social protection interventions to the GBV victims, locally stranded individuals (LSIs), returning Filipinos, including those who are from Sabah, IDPs and other vulnerable individuals.
