DIPOLOG CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in collaboration with Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), successfully transferred four victim-survivors of trafficking in persons (TIP) to the local government unit (LGU) of Bohol on August 20, 2023.
The Ministry’s provincial office in Sulu initially provided the individuals with their immediate needs such as temporary shelter, hygiene kits, welfare goods, and facilitated their transportation. Moreover, the victims underwent counseling and received an orientation on the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, empowering them with knowledge of their rights.
Before handing over the victim-survivors to the LGU of Bohol, the team conducted a comprehensive case conference. The discussions centered on strategic plans to combat trafficking in the provinces, along with interventions to support the victim-survivors’ well-being and livelihood.
The operation concluded with the team departing from Dipolog’s port around 6:00 pm on the same day.
Through the MSSD-BARMM’s Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP), trafficked individuals in the Bangsamoro region receive comprehensive recovery and reintegration services. This program offers a holistic package of support to address the psychosocial, social, and economic needs of the victim-survivors.
