LANAO DEL SUR โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) has launched the scale-up phase of the Unlad Pamilyang Bangsamoro Program (UPBP), aimed at providing additional business capital to case-managed microentrepreneurs who meet the eligibility criteria. The launch took place yesterday, September 13, 2023, at the Capitol Complex in Marawi City.
The ceremonial payout event was attended by 323 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Bubong, Ditsaan-Ramain, Marantao, and Tugaya. Among them, 183 were existing UPBP beneficiaries, while the remaining 140 individuals were graduates of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). These participants received P20,000 each as additional capital for their businesses.
During the initial phase of the program, UPBP beneficiaries received P15,000 as capital to initiate small businesses of their choice after completing Basic Business Management Skills Training. Meanwhile, the 4Ps graduates were provided with the same amount as a Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) to support their journey towards self-sufficiency after their involvement in the program.
Alanoding B. Alonto, a UPBP beneficiary, shared his experiences managing a successful retail business that he established with the initial business capital he received from the Ministry. Through this program, he was able to expand his business and even extend its reach to Baguio City. Currently, his business specializes in selling bags and pouches made from Meranaw textiles.
The launch event was attended by key figures, including MSSD-BARMM Deputy Minister Nur-Ainee Tan Lim, Provincial Attorney Faisal Cali, LSA-Provincial Social Welfare Officer Bai Yasmira N. Pangadapun, and other members of the MSSD-Lanao del Sur workforce.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency among indigent households in BARMM.
