MAGUINDANAO โ MSSD assisted the release from detention of three (3) children in conflict with the law (CICL) and provided them with proper intervention to facilitate their reformation.
The first CICL is a 16-year-old minor from Municipality of Datu Piang, who was apprehended during a buy-bust operation 2 years ago, when he was still still 14 years old. He has been detained in the provincial jail for more than a year and through the testimony and recommendation of a doctor and a social worker, it was found in the hearing that he is indeed a minor.
The second CICL is a 17-year-old minor from Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat, who was arrested during the first week of August because of illegal possession of firearms. His parents were able to present all the necessary documents to prove that he is a minor and after the arraignment, his release was ordered by the presiding judge.
Both of the 16-year-old and 17-year-old CICL were reunited with their parents on 28 July 2022. MSSD provided each of them with welfare goods comprised of 25 kilogram-rice and food pack as initial intervention.
The recent CICL is a 17-year-old minor who was allegedly involved in a carnapping incident at Datu Odin Sinsuat. He was apprehended on 09 August and being a minor, he was turned over to MSSD for immediate interventions needed for his reformation. He is currently staying at Halfway Home โ MSSD’s temporary shelter, while waiting for the hearing of his case.
According to Ms. Laila Salik-Kadir, RSW, MTSWโSocial Welfare Officer II of MSSD Maguindanao, the ministry also implements comprehensive intervention program for CICL in coordination with Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee (RJJWC) to facilitate their rehabilitation and reintegration with their families and communities.
