LANAO DEL SUR – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through its Lanao del Sur A Provincial Branch Office, conducted the continuous simultaneous distribution of Emergency Go Bags to para-social workers and provincial disaster responders in the municipalities of Tamparan, Lumba Bayabao, and Balindong in Lanao del Sur on November 30, 2023.

Each Emergency Go Bag consists of a solar lamp, radio, whistles, rope, collapsible water container, file bag, first aid kit, compress dressing, gauze roll bandage, adhesive bandage, adhesive cloth tape, antiseptic wipes, sterile gauze pads, itch-control ointment, thermometer, non-latex gloves, bandage shear, tweezers, thermal blanket, cotton balls, povidone-iodine, a smaller backpack, manual resuscitator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation kit, triangular bandage, bleeding control pouch, tactical medical tourniquet, chest seal, duct tape, permanent marker, rubber boots, and raincoats.

As of the current date, a total of 403 individuals have already received Emergency Go Bags across the province. Among the recipients, 28 were from Tamparan, 26 from Balindong, 25 from Lumbabayabao, 27 from Wao, 26 from Taraka, 26 from Marantao, 24 from Misiu, 24 from Ditsaan Ramain, 23 from Piagapo, 23 from Bubong, 22 from Saguiaran, 22 from Maguing, 19 from Buadipuso Buntong, 18 from Molundo, 17 from Poona Bayabao, 16 from Tugaya, 14 from Kapai, 12 from Tagoloan, and 11 from Amai Manabilang.

MSSD targets to distribute 1,200 Emergency Go Bags throughout the entire province of Lanao del Sur. Similar distribution of go-bags is also conducted in the other provinces of BARMM.

After every distribution, recipients are also oriented on basic life support skills, particularly on the proper use of the kits inside the go-bags during emergencies in their areas.

This intervention is implemented under the Ligtas Pamilya Project of MSSD’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), which aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of qualified force multipliers, such as community leaders and local responders, as well as households on disaster preparedness and resilience.
