TAWI-TAWI- Through the Layag Badjao Program, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) distributed a monetized rice subsidy to 18 Badjao families on November 29, 2023, in Turtle Islands, Tawi-Tawi.
Each Badjao family received Php 3, 600 each which covered their monthly rice allowance for three (3) months.
Prior to the distribution, MSSD fieldworkers conducted thorough monitoring and evaluation to verify the beneficiaries’ eligibility and ensure the accuracy of their information.
The remaining four (4) household beneficiaries in the municipality are set to receive their assistance in the coming week.
The Layag Badjao Program is an initiative of MSSD that provides holistic social intervention for Badjao families to address their general welfare through assistance on livelihood, education, health and nutrition services, and resettlement opportunities. The program also aims to assist the Badjao communities to alleviate their socio-economic status.
