COTABATO CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII, spearheaded the 32nd Commencement and Recognition ceremonies of the Center for the Handicapped earlier today, November 30, 2023, at the covered court of the Center for the Handicapped in Cotabato City.
DSWD XII Protective Services Division Chief Ryan D. Balanza declared 24 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as graduates in skills training courses such as basic massage therapy, computer literacy, basic cooking, functional literacy level VI, and social preparatory course.
To recognize their hard work and determination to learn, the graduates received proficiency certificates and medals. Forty-five honor trainees were also recognized and received their awards and medals.
MSSD BARMM Minister Raissa H. Jajurie conveyed her message through MSSD Chief of Staff Lyca Sarenas, extending her greetings to the graduates and their parents.
โDespite the big responsibility of running the Center for the Handicapped, MSSD is ready to continue what DSWD XII started at the center, now the Center for PWDs under the management of MSSD, starting on November 3, 2023,โ Sarenas assured the parents.
DSWD XII will continue to assist and guide MSSD throughout the transition process until December 31, 2023.
Present during the graduation ceremony were MSSD Regional Director Atty. Mohammad Moctadir Estrella, Older Persons and Persons With Disability Program (OPPWDP) Focal Person Sandra Macacua, RSW, and representatives from partner agencies and NGOs, Alternative Learning System (ALS), Kutawato Greenland Initiative (KGI), PNP Cotabato, the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE)-TESD, the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), the Cotabato Regional Medical Center Dental Department (CRMC-DD), and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO).
