Infants and elderlies are among the most vulnerable persons during calamities and crisis. To further address their needs during these times, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) added the infant and elderly kits to its roster of relief supplies.
The infant kit contains items which ensure that the babies receive the utmost care and safety, especially inside the evacuation centers. It is necessary to provide proper hygiene for infants since they have sensitive skin and vulnerable immune system. Also included in the kit is a storage box, which is big enough to function as a floatation device that can carry the baby in case of sudden flooding.
The elderly kit contains essential supplies for senior citizens, who experience difficulty in mobility and in doing everyday tasks, such as going to comfort room.
The Ministry conducts assessment and validation of the target beneficiaries ahead of the distribution of the various kits to ensure that their needs are met accordingly.
